Product information
Contrelle is a comfortable, discreet, easy-to-use6 bladder support designed to
reduce or stop leaks caused by Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) – the leakage
millions of women experience during everyday activities, such as coughing, laughing
or exercising. Inserted into the vagina, in much the same way as a tampon,
Contrelle’s unique design supports the bladder from within to prevent leaks
immediately. Unlike pads that absorb leaks, Contrelle stops them before they
happen – giving you the confidence to live freely.2, 3
5 unique modes of action
Contrelle is made from a soft bio-synchronised polymer. It is latex and silicone
free. Once inserted into the vagina, its unique soft material and shape enable
Contrelle to work through 5 - modes of action, making it the most comfortable and
effective bladder support available.2
- 1 Supports the bladder neck
- 2 Helps reposition and improve the bladder angle
- 3 Provides gentle pressure to the top of the urethra (the tube which empties the bladder)
- 4 Reduces bladder mobility
- 5 Stabilises bladder pressure
Put simply, Contrelle mimics what strong pelvic muscles would do. This is why Contrelle can work immediately to stop leaks when, for example you cough, go to an aerobics class or laugh with friends.2
The design offers maximum comfort and ensures stability, even during the most strenuous activities.
Contrelle can be worn for up to 16 hours a day, or just during activities that trigger leaks.

Why does Contrelle come in three sizes?
Contrelle comes in three sizes to ensure optimum comfort and
effectiveness. Every woman is different – the size you need
depends on the size and shape of your vagina, as well as the level
of support required. The size you need is not related to body type.
To start your Contrelle journey, you’ll need to purchase the Sizing Kit, which contains one of each size. Start with Size One and
follow the instructions. There’s no benefit in trying a larger size
first, as a bigger size doesn’t mean better leak protection- it’s
about finding the right fit for you.
The three types of urinary incontinence
Also known as bladder leakage, urinary incontinence is when you accidentally pass urine. Whether frequent
or occasional, it can range from a few drops to a complete loss of bladder control.
Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)
Occurs when physical activity puts pressure (stress) on your
bladder – such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, running, lifting
something heavy or exercising. You might notice leaks during these everyday moments.
What causes it?
SUI is usually caused by weakness of the urethral sphincter (the
muscle that controls urine flow), lack of support around the
urethra, and weakened pelvic floor muscles. This is common after childbirth or during menopause – but can occur at any age.
Surprisingly, it can also be caused by pelvic floor muscles that are too tight (hypertonic) from excessive high-impact exercise, as overly tight muscles can’t function properly.
Clinical studies prove Contrelle can help reduce or stop bladder leaks caused by SUI.
Urgency Urinary Incontinence (UUI)
Occurs when you feel a sudden, urgent need to empty your
bladder, but can’t reach the toilet in time. This is sometimes
called an “overactive bladder.”
You may also need to empty your bladder more frequently throughout
the day and wake up several times during the night to go to the toilet.
There is little research into Contrelle’s effectiveness at
helping relive the symptoms of UUI. However, there is a study running currently, so watch this space.
Mixed Urinary Incontinence (MUI)
Is a combination of both stress and urgency urinary incontinence,
where you experience symptoms of both types.
Clinical studies prove Contrelle can help reduce or stop bladder
leaks caused by mixed incontinence, where SUI is predominant.
Environmental Benefits
Compared to Incontinence Pads
Swapping from incontinence pads to Contrelle has major environmental benefits. One device
can replace several pads. Most incontinence pads are made from plastic components that don’t biodegrade – they sit in landfill for hundreds of years, releasing microplastics into the
environment. Making the switch to Contrelle means less waste and a lighter environmental footprint.
Compared to Other Bladder Supports
Although single-use, Contrelle doesn’t use plastics, thermoplastics, silicones or latex in
manufacturing. Our device is also long-term biodegradable. In fact, we’re the only bladder
support that can make these claims.
Contrelle is 100% UK-made, ensuring an optimal environmental approach with minimal impact
from transportation and distribution. Other bladder support products are manufactured abroad
– either in Northern Europe or as far away as Australia.
Our goal is to be the first carbon-neutral healthcare manufacturer. Your
choice makes a difference.
You could stop your bladder leaks. Immediately. Try Contrelle today.
