How it all started
Sharing a Scandinavian secret with women globally
Contrelle has been helping women live with confidence in Scandinavia for over
10 years. It was acquired in 2021 by Viveca Biomed – a UK-based, independent
female-health-focused company, passionate about improving women’s everyday
lives.
Believing Contrelle was too life-changing to keep a secret, Viveca Biomed set
out to make it available to women around the world, so more women could move
freely, confidently, and without worry.

From their manufacturing base in the northeast of England, Viveca Biomed
began producing and distributing Contrelle in the UK, whilst continuing to
support women in the Nordic countries where it all began. Today, Contrelle is
trusted by women in over twenty countries worldwide.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Women tell us Contrelle has
helped them return to activities they once avoided – from exercise to social
moments – without worrying about leaks. Determined to do more, Viveca Biomed
has also invested in independent research which has opened-up honest
conversations around bladder leakage, helping to break down a topic that has
been silent for far too long.

Understanding how much bladder leaks can affect daily life, Viveca Biomed is committed to helping as many women as possible. In 2023, Contrelle was added to the
UK drug tariff, meaning many women can now access both the Contrelle Sizing Kit and 30-packs on NHS prescription.
And the journey continues. Building on seven clinical trials showing Contrelle can reduce or stop bladder leaks and improve quality of life,3 Viveca Biomed is now
working with seven NHS hospitals on a major clinical study. This research will help strengthen the evidence for Contrelle and explore how it could support women
with other medical needs in the future.
